Meet Kylie Lowe
Founder • Change maker • Inspirer
“Truth and freedom weave through the core – without these we have nothing.” – Kylie Lowe
Kylie Lowe is the inspiring and driving force behind the innovative social enterprise, Joining Hands.
All who come into contact with her spirit and energy are drawn into reflecting on how they too can take action to make the world a better place.
Kylie is an energised, short-haired cancer survivor and thriver, a solo mother of two mighty girls, a mad surfer and Nia dancer. She’s a social entrepreneur, Impact Academy graduate, Psychology graduate, Bowen Therapist, Homoeopath, Reiki Practitioner and Nia Dance Blue Belt graduate.
She is wildly passionate about social justice, youth homelessness, healing, health and wellbeing for all. A firm believer in the power of connection and touch to bring about healing, Kylie has seen first-hand the benefits this has in the lives of homeless and vulnerable young people – as well as her own.
Kyie is equally as passionate about living a life with purpose and joy, whilst inspiring and ensuring others have the opportunity to do the same.
Having worked professionally with homeless and disadvantaged young people and their children for more than 20 years, Kylie is a member of the Queensland Social Enterprise Council, Queensland Council of Social Services, and Queensland Youth Housing Coalition.
Her Story
In 2008, Kylie was diagnosed with aggressive cancer, and recovered by creating her own holistic health team and practices. This inspired her to provide the access to wellness services that she had been privileged to have access to, to vulnerable members of society.
Kylie started offering free monthly health clinics and sessions to homeless young women and their children. Many had suffered trauma and abuse, and were left with limited to no support or the financial means to access these services.
So many young women turned up for the monthly 2-hour clinics that there was only enough time for 10 minutes each. Even with this limited time for treatments, the results were profound.
Inspired by the success of these sessions, Kylie and a small team of passionate individuals started Joining Hands in January 2012 to overcome the struggle to fund this important work. The movement has been building momentum ever since.
In addition to leading Joining Hands, Kylie facilitates small groups to empower women. She is Co-ordinator and Facilitator of the BE Ready Program in Beenleigh with Logan Women’s Health and Wellbeing Centre, and also Pro Bono Coach and Mentor for Global Sisters (Sister School and GLO Programs).
Kylie won the Silver Award in the National 2017 Ausmumpreneur awards for ‘Creating a Social Impact’.
Award-winning inspiring speaker
Kylie is just as happy on stage with a microphone and an audience (big or small) as she is in her other favourite place – the ocean.
Kylie has an amazing life to share, is a natural storyteller, and loves all chats about life. She is an engaging, empowering and inspiring speaker, with a keen sense of humour.
